Chapter 29 Backpack Literature
After having read this I'm glad to know that I am not the only one who has felt like he is writing what everyone else has written before in relation to a particular literary piece. I am pleased with the fact that I have been already utilizing one of the active reading steps, note taking. I started taking notes a few years ago while reading a historical book and now find myself doing it regularly when I come across a particular fact that I want to make sure and remember. Beyond that, however, I've realized that I need to start using steps like looking up unfamiliar words, preview the text, and reread if necessary. If I implement some of these strategies I think my comprehension will dramatically improve.

I agree that there are many new found strategies in reading/writing after reading chapter 29. I have been diligent at creating a layout for my essay or papers but fail like you at looking up unfamiliar words, preview the text, and reread if necessary. I believe this will help the both of us in future writings if we implement these going forward!
ReplyDeleteI am also one that could utilize of few tools this chapter had to offer such as looking up unfamiliar words. I generally don't take to time to stop what I'm reading to look up a word's meaning. I see how doing that can greatly improve my understanding of what I'm reading. I myself have never been a note taker. I think this will be one area I also should focus on doing. I like how you stated it is a way for you to make sure that you remember a certain fact.
